Resonate — Privacy Policy

Resonate collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDK of any kind. The app requests no internet permission, so nothing it holds can leave your device even in principle.
Audio
Resonate applies equalisation, compression and limiting to audio that is already playing on your device. It does this through Android's own audio effect framework, which hands an app the output session of another player. It never records, stores or transmits audio, and it has no microphone permission with which it could listen to anything.
The permissions it does ask for, and why
MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS— to attach the effects to the playing audio. This is the app.FOREGROUND_SERVICEandFOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE— the effects must keep running while you use other apps, and Android requires a foreground service, with a notification, to do that.POST_NOTIFICATIONS— to show that notification.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED— so the effects come back after a restart, if you asked for that.DUMP— requested only so the app can see which audio sessions exist. Android does not grant it to ordinary apps, so on a normal phone it simply does nothing and session scanning stays unavailable. The app works without it.
What is stored, and where
Your presets and settings are kept on your device and nowhere else. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Children
Resonate is a utility, is not directed at children, and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this ever stops being true, this page will be updated before the version that changes it ships.
